I want to move into a property with another friend and the current tenant is going to move out.

The agency requests £300 in fees for only my reference and to change one tenant on the contract (friend will still continue living there). This seems extremely high, especially as the current/previous tenants have already paid exorbitant fees to the agency.

Is there anyway I can fight these fees?

No. As it is fees are charged at the discretion of the letting agent. If you don’t like it, you can pass on the property. If you want to move in, you will have to pay the fees.

It sucks, but there is nothing to be done about it.
