Hi everyone,
Our landlord is in the process of selling our flat. The estate agents have found a buyer and the managing company just e-mailed to tell us that a surveyor will be entering our flat whilst we are not there to carry out a survey.
I have replied saying we don’t want anyone in the flat (which until we recieve our notice) is still our home without one of us being there. Am I within my rights to do this?

Thanks
M

interesting question, it does depend really on what your tenancy agreement states. You will need to read the agreement but most agreements allow for this, you could request that the agent himself is present when the surveyor conducts the survey if you don’t wish to take time off work.

Thank you for replying, they have offered for people from the managing agents and estate agents to be present, but my flat mate and I have never let anyone enter the flat without us being there. We feel very uncomfortable with it as they are all strangers ,never mind who they work for. Its all been a shambles how they have dealt with the whole situation and now we are feeling bullied into something we don’t want to happen.
