I want to leave my 6 month tenancy agreement early. My landlady is saying I am responsible for paying the agency fees to find a new tenant. Is this legal?

As you are on a fixed term, the landlord may propose whatever terms she likes to release you from the contract. It’s frequent that the tenant is charged with all associated costs for bringing a new tenant in their place.

Otherwise, you are liable to pay rent for the remaining months of your period, regardless if you live there or not. Though, if you do pay rent, you’re entitled to keep the keys and occupy the property as you like.
