Boiler repair call out charge

currently renting a little flat through a letting agency, boiler is playing up since yesterday. Letting agency initially fairly reluctant to help palming it off to British Gas as they seemed to think it was a problem with the meter. Not the meter according to British Gas, rung lettings agency back up sending repair man tomorrow however they want a £60 call out charge. Is this usual or not and should we be paying it as seems a lot of money to me and whenever we’ve had minor repairs done they’ve never charged any sort of call out fee.

Hi Sebastian

This is something that the landlord should be paying for, not you. If the boiler was there when you moved in and is mentioned in the tenancy agreement then it remains the landlrd’s responsibility to maintain it and provide you with a continuous supply of heat and hot water.
