I moved into my rented flat just over a month ago. When I looked round the property, I asked whether the car parking was free, and the estate agent confirmed that it was.
However, yesterday I received a letter in my post box that said the letting agent will begin to charge for the parking as of the end of the month. They said electric gates will be fitted and unless I pay £22.50 for a fob, I won’t be able to park in the space that I have been using free of charge since I moved in.
Can my landlord do this? There’s nothing whatsoever about the parking in the contract, so can they just slap a charge in me?
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!
