I have read somewhere that you can claim back 1 to 3 times the deposist if the landlord didn’t protect it in a government scheme. I read that you can claim this back after leaving the property, is that correct?

Yes, this is correct. Please use our Tenancy Deposit Checker tool to confirm that your landlord has not protected your deposit.

It’s on this page –

If your deposit is not protected, the tool will provide you with a link to our partner solicitors, who will give you FREE advice on how to proceed with your claim and if you agree, can also handle the claim for you.
