hi

me and my girlfriend are looking for our first home together, we go away in July for 3 weeks so are looking for a move in date mid August

we applied for a house after a viewing and the checks have been completed and accepted, the next step is to pay £200 for the checks and pay the deposit and arrange a moving date, the landlord has stated that we need to move in before we go away so we are having 2nd thoughts as we can’t really afford to move in and then pay for our holiday too.

are we obliged to pay anything or can we change our mind and walk away? we have not given any bank details only details of employment and income

thanks

Hi Aaron,

If your landlord was aware that you wanted to move in mid-August, then no he cannot now make you move in earlier.

Wasn’t the date on the application form?

John

Aaron, if you and your landlord have had a signed written agreement for Mid-August you don’t have to pay nothing.

Best regards, Handy Moves Chelsea.
