Hi

Is it a legal obligation if landlord passes property to a letting agent to let the tenant know in writing? Likewise should the letting agency also notify the tenant that this is the case?

Landlord failed to notify tenant but nothing has changed regarding paying rent into landlord’s account.

Benny,

The Landlord should notify you if the Manegemnt of a property is transferred although there is no real legal timeframe to this. However, the Landlord is now permitted to pass your personal details and contact info to any 3rd party (that doesnt already have them) without your prior consent. Otheriwse this is a breach of the Data Protection Act.

Hope that helps.
