We were evicted by bailiffs for rent arrears. The landlord had initially we could re enter property 24hra later to retrieve larger items of our personal belongings. She is now refusing as we haven’t yet released deposit to her. What are our rights. We have beds, washers, fridge, etc still in property.

Hi Amanda, sorry to hear this. We hope the situation is now resolved for you. If not, please contact Shelter who will offer you free expert advice. https://www.shelter.org.uk/ 0808 800 4444

Under no circumstances can a landlord hold your belongings in lieu of money being owed. See our blog for more info: http://www.thetenantsvoice.co.uk/blogs/landlord-rights-over-tenants-belongings/

All the best and let us know how you get on.
