My current tenancy ends on 31st May and is paid up to date.

I’ve started a new tenancy at another property on the 1st May because it was ideal and I didn’t want to lose it.

I’ve just left my old property after having it inspected by the lettings agent and was told it was advertised as being available from the 6th May.

I thought that two tenancies cannot run concurrently at the same property.

Is this correct?

If you’ve moved out and have had the final inspection and have returned the keys to the appropriate person, your landlord can safely terminate your tenancy. I’m unsure, but I’d guess you’re not entitled to your rent back.
