I have been privately renting for 2 years, give or take, I have been given 8 weeks notice to vacate.

How much notice do I need to give the Landlord if I find a new rental property?

I assume you’ve been given a Section 21 notice to quit.

Under the newest rules – Deregulation Act 2015, you’re entitled to leave as early as you like, when you’ve been given the notice. Serving S21, hte landlord makes their intention clear to get the property as soon as they can.

This allows you to leave at any given point and only pay rent up to that day.

You don’t need to serve any notice, but it would be wise to contact your landlord and negotiate the end of tenancy when you know when you’re going to be moving.
