Hi

I need to give 1 months notice when leaving, however my letting agent says this is 1 month from my rental due date? The details I have from the contract don’t specifically say that, just that 1 months notice is required? Can u advise

Hi, thanks for your query.

If your tenancy agreement states that you only have to give one month’s notice to quit, then the date should coincide with the last day, or the first day, of a complete period of the tenancy (i.e. you will not be able to leave halfway through a month if your rent is payable at the end of the month).

Please see our article on giving notice to quit: http://www.thetenantsvoice.co.uk/advice_from_us/giving-notice/

We hope this clarifies things for you. Good luck with the move.
