Hi when we moved in we wasa told we could not use the garage up the top of our gaden, so we removed a couple of railings and put down some slabs so as we could park our car safely, we could park on the side street but the car was always damaged, i see what we have done is an improvement to the property, and now were being told to put it back as it was, dont make sense to me as the property is not vulnerable, and yet the space we used is not within the contract, who is in the right here?

Hi Paula

Who owns the land that you made the changes to? If it’s the landlord’s then you would probably require permission to make any changes, even if you thought they were an improvement. If you want some legal advice on this, try contacting Citizens Advice.
