I rent a maisonette above an estate agent. As I understand it the water is from a shared source. The bill goes to the estate agent who divides the bill by I don’t know what criteria. They then present me with a typed document telling me what my share is and saying I am welcome to look at the water meter. They tehn add a £5 admin fee – does anyone know if I’m obliged to pay it?

Hi Olivia,

If you have to pay via them and are not permitted to pay directly they cannot charge you an admin fee UNLESS this is stated in your signed Tenancy Agreement. Simples.

Hope that helps.
