I’m looking into renting for the first time (my parents will help me if they can) but it seems more and more letting agents want to charge for what they call a referencing fee – this is where they check out my history, my credit and if I can pay for the rent I think.  There seems to be a great deal of difference between how much this fee is!rn rnAnyone got any advice?

I get my managing agent to reference my tenants now, as I need to ensure they can afford to rent my property.  Have in the past had people rent out my properties that really couldn’t afford to do so, now I just ensure that everyone going into the property is referenced.
