I believe my previous landlord had not registered with Rent Smart Wales, who are currently investigating. I would like to know, though, if this landlord is found guilty of an offence, how do I go about personally applying for a rent repayment order annd is it a lengthy process? Thanks!

Hello,

I think at this time, Rent Smart Wales are only marketing the compulsory registration. Future measures might include rent repayment orders, but not at this time.

Also, rent repayment orders are meant to punish bad landlords who disregard their legal obligations to the tenants and the rented property. You never mentioned that your landlord has done anything wrong against you.
