We were issued with a section 21 and the date on it is 08/01/18 so we had this much notice. We emailed the letting agency to say thanks for giving us so much time and that we would find somewhere by then. Our lettting agency emailed us back and said they have made a mistake with the date and it should have been 2 months – and that they would re-issue. They havent yet….We found a house but it is unavailable until the beginning of Jan. We then formally wrote to our letting agency telling them  that we would be moving out by the 06/01/18 (which is before the date they stated)

Had an email from the letting agency to say that they landlord wants to increase the rent by £100 a month for the inconvience of us not moving out in the 2 months. We know they need to issue us with a new section 21 for it to be legal but can they increase the rent???

Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated?
