I’m just looking for a bit of advice. I’ve arrived home today to a letter from my letter agent telling me to maintain the garden as per my tenancy agreement. Failure to do this will result in them employing a gardener at my cost.
1. They havent been to the property in over 4 months so how would they know that the garden needs maintaining?
2. I live in an end terrace house which backs onto train tracks. The garden is well established with lots of trees and shrubbery some of these are on the train tracks so we are physically and legally unable to tend them.
I’m relly upset by this letter as I have spent quite alot of money maintaining the garden over the time that I have been here and enjoy spending time in it. The bit that puzzles me is how do they know? Either they have been without my knowledge and entered the back garden and it was during a period that it may have been a little out of shape (never ever anything drastic though it would just be a case of trimming it back) or a neighbour has made a complaint but I only have the one and I’m pretty sure he would speak to me before going straight to the letting agent. He also moved in a long time after me so I’m not sure he would even know who my letting agent is.
Anyways I’m sorry for the long post I just feel that a letter like that is a bit intrusive. Any ideas on how I should approach the letting agents would be much appreciated.
