Hi. I have stayed on rent in bangalore from February2015 till date, and will continue to do so for a few more months.

Can I make Feb15 to Jan16 agreement now? And a renewal agreement in addition to that?

Or is it advisable to make an 18 month agreement? What is the differencein the reqt for both cases?

Hi Pooja

If your questions about new tenancies relate to England and Wales then yes it’s quite normal to sign a tenancy for 12 months. Whether you sign 12 or 18 is up to you – the shorter tenancy means you can leave earlier, if you agree to a longer tenancy you’re usually a more attractive tenant so you might be able to negotiate a lower rent. Tenancy agreement in either case is the same.

Hope that helps.

Alex
