my partner and I recently terminated a 12 month tenancy on a modern flat.

All walls were stud walls so any fixings had to be considered with care. Despite care having been taken there was minor damage.

also a small stain on a bedroom carpet occurred. Despite having had professionally fitted Venetian blinds fitted to double glazed windows at a cost of £980 which we were prepared to leave behind, the owners tried to retain over £500 pounds from our deposit. We disputed these costs with the deposit adjudicators and settled for half that amount. Many younger tenants than we (we’re both in our 70 s) cannot afford such disputes as they need their full deposit back as future deposits.
