the property that I am currently tenant has recently been sold and the new landlord is happy for me to remain tenant. They have asked via an agent to sign a new tenancy agreement which I am happy to do. I would like to know from which period I am required to pay rent from. Is it from the date the property was sold, or the date in which the new tenancy agreement is signed? Thanks.

Hi Roy

You’d need to pay rent under the old tenancy until that one ends and rent under the new tenancy when that one begins. I very much doubt that the landlord/agent would allow there to be a gap between the two so it’s probably wise to just keep paying your rent as normal.

It does not matter too much. Just ensure that you do not pay double rent.
