Check your tenancy agreement for a clause relating to decorating the property.

Most agreements will not allow tenants to alter the property in any way, which includes inserting picture hooks to hang anything on the walls or painting, without written permission from your landlord. It can’t hurt to ask as some landlords may be willing to let you to make some changes.

Be aware that if you make any changes without written permission of the landlord then you will have to pay to return the property to its original state a the end of your tenancy.
