Q: I have alerted my landlord/letting agent to the fact that a switch/plug is broken and although I find it inconvenient they are refusing to do anything about it? Should I keep on their case?

Yes, definitely. TTV urges all tenants not to tolerate any electrical faults. Follow the procedure outlined in the TTV page, Getting Your Landlord or Letting Agent to Tend to Repairs [needs hyperlinked] making sure your complaint is in writing. A faulty switch or plug can mean there is loose, live wiring.
