If a landlord tries to take possession of your home without a court order then he is committing an offence called ‘unlawful eviction.’ This means you can apply for an injunction against your landlord. If you are successful, the landlord may have to:-

  • Pay damages
  •  Pay a fine
  • Go to prison

It is the TTV experience that only very foolish landlords will try to lock you out or physically force you out of your home. Any attempt to intimidate you into leaving your home is illegal. This includes cutting off water or electricity, threatening violence and generally making your life hell. TTV approved landlords and letting agents will never apply these illegal methods.
