'Unusual' Tenancy

Albury & Hall acted as an introduction and communication service for the property we rented at 32 Queens Road in Swanage. After the introduction and us agreeing to take up the tenancy the owner of the property took over the financials. First was a suprise £500 'non-refendable deposit'. Next the rent went up by £100 a month from the advertised price because there were four of us. Then we were told the garage was 'on loan'. Over the course of the remaining 11 months of our tenure there were rings on the doorbell by the owner to ask about mail, random unannounced gardening visits by the owner's nephew, constant 'reviews' of the length of tenancy after the six month AST period expired not to mention many visits by prospective buyers (the house was also for sale) some of which took up to an hour. We had little choice but to take up the tenancy because of our family set up and that the owners of our previous rental property decided to sell. We were served notice just before Christmas. While the letting agent did all they could and in a normal letting agent manner I would strongly advise anyone to avoid renting this property unless you are willing to tolerate the above.
