Upon moving into the property, the house had clearly not been cleaned at all, with cobwebs, dirt and random items (including a dangerously melted electrical equipment) left scattered about. Maintenance issues highlighted in the inventory were ignored.
Despite have serious health-implicating damp issues, the letting agent (and landlord) made minimal progress in resolving the situation six months on. Felt like tackling these issues would be pushed back and back until our contract is up and replacement tenants would have to go over the same farce next year. Did manage some progress eventually but after a LOT of foot-dragging.
Poor transparency and inconsistencies - asked to accept that damp issues were related to tenant-induced condensation, but later revealed that structural leaks caused a ceiling to collapse the previous year.
Communication is weak - emails go without replies for weeks, we were not even notified when our representative left the agency. Excuses such as "being understaffed" are used for non-responsiveness.
The out of hours emergency phone line connects to a local plumber, regardless of whether your issue is plumbing-related or not.
